For some people, puzzles are like passion. They have gigantic puzzles on their walls with more than a few thousand pieces. But today we will not talk about those advanced level puzzles. Today’s topic is the tiny puzzles with pieces no more than ten: puzzles in education.
Educating young minds has always been a difficult task. First there is the problem of educating them, but as they are too young to pay attention to anything, you have to educate them in the funniest way possible. It is like deceiving kids, actually. You make it feel like they are playing a game, but they actually learn new things even without noticing it.
The problem with this, though, is that it can be very difficult to come up with imaginative ideas with everything you need to teach kids. Puzzles, on the other hand, can be a savior on that matter. You can adjust the number of pieces and prepare yourself according to the age range you are teaching to. You can also apply puzzles to a variety of subjects such as English, mathematics or even biology.
Now this was the first one advantage of puzzles: being able to teach to little kids with fun. The other is beyond teaching a specific subject and training the mind. Our brain continuously improves itself according to our needs, but this stops after a certain age. While the brain is this suitable to developing and improving itself, it would be wise to do brain-nurturing activities. This gets even more important for kids.
Kids are like tabula rasa and anything you do at that age influences them in a great way. If they learn a foreign language, they do not forget it. If they use their brain to solve problems, their brain adjusts itself and grows even more.
Imaginative: Showing creativity
Increase: Become greater in number or amount
Nurture: Encourage, care for
Tabula rasa: A clean slate
